Shyla is a RI Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who has over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families. She has worked in many different healthcare settings such as residential programs, foster care, and community mental health agencies.
Shyla uses a combination of a strengths-based approach and cognitive-behavioral therapies, psycho-education, and support to help clients and their families through their emotional and behavioral struggles. Her specialties include the treatment of depression, self-injurious behavior, anxiety and panic attacks, attention and behavioral problems, parenting skills, trauma, and relationship difficulties. Shyla incorporates several methodologies including expressive arts and plays therapies to help children and adolescents process their feelings and learn coping strategies.
Shyla has her Masters of Social Work degree from Rhode Island College and a B.A. in both Psychology and Sociology from the University of Rhode Island.
